Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Carbon Convergence Industry Research Association (Chairman 유영목) and ANH Structure Co., Ltd. (CEO 안현수) for Industry–University Cooperation in the field of carbon composite materials and for the training of specialized personnel.
Since last year, JBNU has been training innovative industrial-technology professionals for the localization and technological advancement of carbon composite technologies through a five-year "Carbon Composite Industry Specialized Workforce Training Project" (Project Director Professor 오명준), supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. From January 3–14, a two-week intensive course on carbon composite structural analysis software was held at the Jeonju branch of the technical research institute of consortium company ANH Structure Co., Ltd. for student researchers participating in the project.
Through this agreement, the parties will cooperate to jointly develop industry-demand-driven master’s and doctoral curricula, to train practice-oriented professionals, and to support employment.
In particular, collaboration between ANH Structure Co., Ltd., which possesses core research capabilities in the composites industry, and the Carbon Convergence Industry Research Association, which has strengths in an industry–academia–research–association cooperative network for carbon material convergence, is expected to generate significant synergy in training innovative talent.
Professor 오명준, who serves as project director, stated, "Building on this memorandum of understanding, we will continuously expand the close industry–university cooperation base in the field of carbon composites and provide wholehearted support and play our part so that graduates of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy–supported Carbon Composite Industry Specialized Workforce Training Project can become the new leaders of the localization and technological advancement of carbon composite technologies."
ANH Structure Co., Ltd. provides outstanding solutions in design, analysis, testing and product development based on core engineering technologies in the heavy industries sector. Since its founding in 2013, the company has experienced rapid growth.
Through various research and development projects, the company has pursued development in areas such as design analysis technologies for composite materials, manufacturing process technologies, and repair technologies. Through its subsidiary ANH Systems, it has expanded its business scope to include system and software development as well as manufacturing mission-specific equipment for unmanned aerial vehicles and UAV operations.
In 2020, the company became the first in Korea to obtain Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), enabling domestic certification of aircraft parts and making a significant contribution to the development of the domestic aircraft repair and maintenance industry, which had relied on overseas firms. Last year, it completed the country’s first development of a composite propellant tank for a space launch vehicle, established the country’s first aircraft SLED TEST equipment, and is pursuing the country’s first manufacturer certification for certain components. In particular, it was selected for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s drone demonstration-city project, contributing to the commercialization of the drone industry.
