Jeonbuk National University Institute for Southeast Asian Studies (Director 전제성 교수) will jointly host the Southeast Asia Regional Trends Briefing (hereinafter, the Briefing) on January 20–21 with the Korean Association for Southeast Asian Studies and the Seoul National University VIP Localization Support Project Group. The Briefing will review developments in Southeast Asia in 2021 and look ahead to 2022.

Now in its fourth year, the Briefing will invite contributors to the annual special feature "Regional Trends Review" of the Korean Association for Southeast Asian Studies' journal <Southeast Asian Studies> and will be conducted as live webinars using Zoom.

Southeast Asia specialists will participate in large numbers to present and discuss the political, economic, and international relations developments of 2021 for Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, and ASEAN. This year will also include a session to share the results of the "Korea–ASEAN Youth Mutual Perception Survey" conducted by the ASEAN–Korea Centre.

Professor 전제성, Director of the Jeonbuk National University Institute for Southeast Asian Studies, who launched the Briefing two years ago at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, said, "This year’s Briefing is being held one month earlier than last year and features consecutive presentations, reflecting the academic community’s effort to better meet audience needs."
