The LINC+ Project Group (headed by Professor Ko Young-ho) announced on the 7th that it had received a commendation for meritorious service from Jeonju City in recognition of its contributions to local community development through safety initiatives in Jeonju's old downtown area.
Since 2019, the LINC+ Project Group has carried out activities including a launch ceremony and volunteer work to improve electrical safety for approximately 140 vulnerable households in the old downtown area in preparation for the monsoon season. The group has implemented improvements to essential living infrastructure to prevent fires caused by aging wiring.
In particular, this project was carried out in cooperation with companies based in Jungang-dong, such as '나라전기관리공사' and '제이비이엔지', which are partner companies of the LINC+ Project Group. It is regarded as an example of returning value to the local community through Industry–University Collaboration while also fulfilling corporate social responsibility (ESG).
In addition, since 2017 the Project Group has been conducting joint projects with related organizations based at the Green Energy ICC Center to strengthen the competitiveness of local renewable energy industries and to train personnel.
Through these efforts, it has organized training for company employees, technology exchange meetings, and forums, undertaking activities aimed at enhancing corporate competitiveness and increasing sales, thereby contributing to regional development.
Ko Young-ho, director of the LINC+ Project Group, said, "Based on the needs of the local community, we will strive to channel the excellent resources of the LINC+ project back into the community through active Industry–University Collaboration and to contribute to regional development and the concurrent growth of local industries."
