"We wanted to do something meaningful for our alma mater and junior students to commemorate the 20th anniversary of our graduation."
Graduates of the 17th Class of the College of Dentistry at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) donated KRW 40 million, requesting that it be used for the development of the College of Dentistry and for supporting the education of junior students.
Last year, marking the 20th anniversary of their graduation, they agreed to do something meaningful for their alma mater to commemorate the milestone. Thirty-three graduates participated and raised the fund.
They discussed how to use the collected fund meaningfully and decided to allocate KRW 20 million each to the College of Dentistry Development Fund and to scholarships for junior students.
Accordingly, the fund will be used to improve the educational environment for dental students and to support scholarship programs.
Kim Kyung-il, Treasurer of the College of Dentistry Alumni Association (graduate of the 17th class of the College of Dentistry), said, "Even after graduating and working in different places, we have always cherished our affection for our alma mater and junior students," adding, "There is no greater joy than seeing our juniors receive education in a better learning environment and grow successfully."
