Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Office of International Affairs' JBNU Writing Center and the Division of Language Education held an 'English Essay Contest' to improve current students' English writing skills.

About 30 JBNU students participated in the contest held on December 3, presenting essays that showcased the English skills they have honed through their personal experiences.

The submissions underwent a rigorous review, and ten outstanding works were selected. An awards ceremony was held at 10:00 a.m. on December 22 at the New Silk Road Center.

As a result of the judging, Jin Da-yeon, a student in the Division of Chemical Engineering, College of Engineering, won first place with an essay on the topic "A life-changing event or moment in your life."

In addition, the Excellence Award went to Jang Seung-won (Department of Polymer -Nano Science &Technology) and Ko Xiao-Wei Christie (Department of Animal Biotechnology). The Merit Award went to Cho Min-chul (Division of Biotechnology), Na Yun-min (Department of German Education), and Kim Mi-joo (Premedical Course). The Encouragement Award was presented to Lee Min-ji (Division of Chemical Engineering), Nguyen Tran Tao Nguyen (Division of International Humanities and Social Sciences), Kim Min-jae (Department of Quantum System Engineering), and Nguyen Anh Thu (Department of Industrial Design).

Ahn Mun-seok, Director of the Office of International Affairs, said, "We organized this contest to enhance our students' English writing abilities," adding, "We will continue to expand opportunities to improve students' foreign language skills on campus through a variety of foreign language programs."
