Graduate student Ju-Young Lee (Master's Program, Department of Electrical Engineering; Supervising Professor Jae-Seok Lee) received the Best Paper Award for presenting outstanding research at the 24th International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems held recently.
Ju-Young Lee presented a paper titled 'Rapid control prototyping for PMSM drives using DSPs and PLECS' in the field of power electronics and motor drives, earning the Best Paper Award.
This research proposes a more accessible development approach to control systems for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM), which are increasingly used in electric vehicles and aerospace applications, by using DSP controllers and PLECS software compared to conventional development methods.
Through this approach, it is expected to shorten control system development time, reduce costs, and improve system reliability and accuracy.
In particular, the paper was praised for not requiring advanced developer expertise, providing a valuable opportunity for graduate students and early-stage researchers. It was also commended for enabling motor control system development to become more robust and sophisticated. The work is regarded as a means to prepare for the rapidly changing era aligned with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Graduate student Ju-Young Lee said, 'I am pleased and proud to receive the Best Paper Award at the conference despite the difficult times caused by COVID-19. I thank Professor Jae-Seok Lee for guiding the research, and I will continue to devote myself to research to grow as a researcher who will lead the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.'
