The '2021 Winter Southeast Asian Language Camp,' jointly organized by JBNU and Busan University of Foreign Studies, will be held at Busan University of Foreign Studies from December 27, 2021 to January 7, 2022.

Since its first run at JBNU in summer 2019, the Southeast Asian Language Camp, now in its third year, has been the only program in the country that offers courses in six languages, including Southeast Asian languages and Arabic, through 50 hours of in-person, classroom-based instruction over two weeks.

This year's language camp, in particular, now allows JBNU students to receive academic credit under the credit exchange agreement concluded between JBNU and Busan University of Foreign Studies last summer. In compliance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, Busan University of Foreign Studies will provide all participants with single-occupancy dormitory rooms and meal vouchers for two meals per day free of charge.

The Jeonbuk National University Institute for Southeast Asian Studies also organizes regional information sessions to help participants better understand the Southeast Asian region. During the language camp, it has been holding graduate school information sessions on Southeast Asian studies to nurture the next generation of area studies researchers.

Ahead of the 2021 Winter language camp, the Jeonbuk National University Institute for Southeast Asian Studies drew attention by holding a preview information session introducing the camp and offering a taste of the appeal of Southeast Asian languages.

At the briefing held on the 8th under the theme 'The Virtues of Indonesian: A Preview of the 2021 Winter Southeast Asian Language Camp,' Director Jeon Je-seong of the Jeonbuk National University Institute for Southeast Asian Studies personally presented engaging stories about the twenty virtues of Malay-Indonesian included in this year's camp.
