Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Korean archery club 'Hwalbin' demonstrated its strength in Korean archery by claiming first place in the individual event and second place in the team event at the recently held National Collegiate Korean Archery Championship.
The competition was held at the standard distance of 145 m and at a 30 m range for university participants.
Hwalbin saw student Heo Dong‑gwon (Department of Physics, College of Natural Science) win the standard-distance individual event. In the standard-distance team event, Hwalbin narrowly lost to Yonsei University and finished second.
This National Collegiate Korean Archery Championship was the first to be organized by the University Archery Federation. It was particularly meaningful because the Army Military Academy Commandant's Cup National Collegiate Korean Archery Competition, which had been held five times previously, has not been held since 2020.
JBNU's Korean archery club Hwalbin has continued to demonstrate its prowess in Korean archery, winning the standard-distance team event at the Army Military Academy Commandant's Cup competition in both 2018 and 2019.
