Professor Seon-Young Lee's team (Department of Radiation Oncology, School of Medicine) has been selected for the 'Daewoong Foundation Young Medical Scientist Academic Research Support Program' project, organized by Daewoong Pharmaceutical.

In this study, the team conducted genomic and epigenetic analyses of tissue and blood from colorectal cancer patients. In particular, by analyzing DNA methylation in genes from each patient's blood and tissue, they identified biomarkers that can enable early diagnosis and prognosis prediction for colorectal cancer.

Based on these findings, the work is expected to contribute to the development of a monitoring system that supports early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.

Meanwhile, in 2017 Professor Lee conducted research under the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning titled 'Development and Application of Female Cancer Markers Through Analysis of Circulating Cancer Genomes in Women Patients,' through which she studied various cancer-related genetic factors in female cancer patients.

Also, in June she was finally selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Bioindustry Core Technology Development Project with a National Cancer Center-led study entitled 'Development and Demonstration of a Prognosis Prediction Support System Using Federated Learning of Medical Specialized Data Based on a Distributed Network,' and she continues to pursue active research activities.
