The Alumni Association of the Department of Organic Materials and Fiber Engineering (formerly the Department of Textile Engineering) donated KRW 10 million to the scholarship fund.

Officers of the Department of Organic Materials and Fiber Engineering Alumni Association, including President Baek Cheol-gyu (Class of '72; President, Korea Knit Industry Research Institute), Senior Vice President Kim Il (Class of '77; Director, Nisshi Consulting Group), and Professor Kim Hak-yong of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), visited the university at 3:00 p.m. on June 19 to hold a development fund donation ceremony.

The development fund donated this time stems from the alumni's decision last year to establish a KRW 100 million scholarship fund to mark the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Department of Textile Engineering, with the aim of cultivating successors who will contribute to the development of the textile industry in Korea.

As a start, alumni pooled their contributions to establish the fund. They plan to continue expanding the scholarship fund to help the department's junior students study in better environments.

At the donation ceremony, President Baek Cheol-gyu said, "To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Textile Engineering (Department of Organic Materials and Fiber Engineering), alumni are actively participating in creating a scholarship fund for younger generations. We hope the scholarship fund will help juniors grow into distinguished individuals, and we will ensure that the scholarship program is not a one-time effort but continues."

President Seo Geoseok said, "On behalf of the university community, I express gratitude to the seniors who gathered their hearts for the younger students. We will take that sentiment into account and the university will strive to teach students better so they can grow into distinguished individuals."
