Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Commerce (Dean Yang Gyu-hyuk) has agreed to actively collaborate with NongHyup Bank Jeonbuk Headquarters (Head Kim Mun-gyu) to promote the development of the regional financial industry and to cultivate outstanding talent in finance.
To this end, the two organizations held a signing ceremony on June 5 at 5:00 p.m. in the College of Commerce Faculty Meeting Room. Dean Yang Gyu-hyuk and Head Kim Mun-gyu, along with other key representatives from both institutions, attended the ceremony.
The agreement aims to expand industry–university collaboration for finance-related education and research and to revitalize financial education necessary to alleviate youth unemployment.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will jointly develop policies to advance the regional financial sector and promote financial consumer rights and will jointly host academic conferences.
They also agreed to exchange information needed for research on the regional economy and finance, jointly develop programs to invigorate financial education, and host special lectures by financial experts.
In particular, the agreement is expected to increase opportunities for students of the College of Commerce to develop practical skills through field training at NongHyup Bank Jeonbuk Headquarters, which is anticipated to have a positive effect on improving actual employment outcomes.
Dean Yang Gyu-hyuk of the College of Commerce said, "With more than half of our students preparing for careers in the financial sector, this agreement with NongHyup Bank Jeonbuk Headquarters is expected to have very positive effects across finance-related research, student education, and employment," adding, "Through this agreement, we expect service-mindedness and ethics education and internship opportunities for job-seeking students in the financial sector to expand, and we will strive to provide more specialized financial education programs."
Kim Mun-gyu, Head of NongHyup Bank Jeonbuk Headquarters, said, "We are very pleased to conclude an industry–university collaboration agreement with JBNU, a regional representative institution," and added, "Since NongHyup Bank has long made active efforts to recruit regional talent, we will endeavor to develop many programs through this agreement that can contribute to nurturing talent in the local community."
