"Do not box yourself into a fixed image of unhappiness when you face important choices in your twenties."

At the "2013 DB Job (JOB) Concert" held at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) on May 21, 2013, director Ryu Seung-wan, of the film "Berlin," took the stage as a speaker and conveyed passion and a spirit of challenge to about 600 young attendees.

At the job concert attended by some 600 students, Director Ryu described his passion and the challenges of persisting with Korean-style action films and urged attendees to make choices they would not regret.

Director Ryu said, "Making films because you want to become a director is fundamentally problematic," and advised, "Do what you genuinely like and enjoy rather than approaching it purely as a profession." He added, "Do not box yourself into a fixed image of unhappiness when you face important choices in your twenties," and explained, "Critical thinking and imagination are like building foundational stamina; the ability to develop your own thoughts about situations is expressed as an individuality that sets you apart from others." Finally, he urged the DB youth to "make choices without regret."

Following Director Ryu's special lecture, Lee Chun-sik, General Manager at LG CNS, who presented on the topic "DB Career Development Roadmap," encouraged the DB youth, saying, "The value of specialized roles in the DB field lies not in being mere developers or operators but in being builders who explore and design an organization’s corporate value — in other words, innovation designers. Furthermore, they are expected to become experts who control a company’s core IT risks and implement IT governance."

In addition, a variety of programs were offered, including ▲ "Corporate Talent as Seen Through Advertising" by Oh Sang-jin, Deputy General Manager, Cheil Worldwide; ▲ "A Conversation with Database Masters" with Jo Kwang-won, CEO of Bituen Consulting; and ▲ a celebratory performance by the idol group Spica. Participants were also provided with employment success tips on how to effectively utilize the various policies that the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and the Korean DB Promotion Agency are implementing to cultivate DB professionals.
