Medical School Professor Seonhee Kim was recognized as a dedicated teacher who devoted herself to student education and research.

Professor Kim was selected by the government as an exemplary teacher in commemoration of the 32nd Teachers' Day and received a Presidential Citation. The University celebrated Professor Kim's award at a medal and commendation presentation ceremony on the morning of the 16th.

Over her 27 years on the faculty, Professor Kim has spared no effort to support students in the College of Medicine and Medical School so they can study in better conditions. She has also provided ongoing care and assistance to international graduate students and students from low-income families.

In particular, as director of the BK21 Project Division's '21st Century Medical Science Human Resources Training Project Division', she has led the systematic development of educational support programs for Medical School students and significantly raised the quality of medical education. She also introduced a mandatory requirement that doctoral dissertation submissions include papers published in SCI-level journals, thereby establishing a foundation to enhance the research capabilities of students and faculty.

These efforts played a major role in enabling the project division to achieve first place nationwide each year in BK21 project evaluations.

Professor Seonhee Kim said, "There are many other excellent professors, and I am at a loss to receive such a distinguished award," and added, "As this award signifies that I should teach students better as an educator and devote myself more to research as a researcher, I will work harder to become a better teacher."

Since 1986, Professor Seonhee Kim has served on the University's faculty and has held positions including Director of the Institute of Medical Science Research, Dean of the Graduate School of Public Health, Vice-Dean of the Medical School , Director of Industry-University Cooperation's 21st Century Medical Science Human Resources Training Project Division, and Vice-President of the Office of Planning, University Headquarters. Last year, she served as Chair of the National Association of University Planning Directors.
