Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) elected Attorney Kim Young (55), managing partner of Baekje Law Firm, as its 35th Alumni Association President.
The Alumni Association held its 2013 annual general meeting on April 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM, with some 200 attendees, including Jeong Byeong-ha, the 34th Alumni Association President, and President Seo Geo-seok, as well as alumni members of the National Assembly and heads of local governments. Through a vote, Attorney Kim was elected the new Alumni Association President. Accordingly, Attorney Kim will lead the Alumni Association for the next two years.
At the same event, the Alumni Award was presented to Moon Mu-chang, Director of Jeonju Hyundai Radiology (Class of 1972, College of Medicine), and Lee Seok‑yeon, former Commissioner of the Ministry of Government Legislation (Class of 1974, College of Law).
A congratulatory ceremony was also held for Lee Kyung-ok, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Security and Public Administration (Class of 1978, Department of Law), and Park Jong-gil, Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (Iri Nonglim, Class of 1965).
Attorney Kim Young, newly elected Alumni Association President, said, 'Let us unite alumni so that our alma mater, JBNU, which has recently been receiving nationwide attention, can continue to develop. I will do my utmost to bring together JBNU's 200,000 alumni so that they may serve both the University's advancement and the local community.'
Attorney Kim Young graduated from Jeonra-go and JBNU's Department of Law, and earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the university's graduate school. He has served as a member of the Crime Victim Relief Committee of the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office, a member of the Jeonbuk administrative appeals committee, an appeals review member of the Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education, and president of the Jeonbuk Bar Association. He currently practices as managing partner at Baekje Law Firm.
