    Professor Jong-hun Kim Elected President of the Korean Society of Coloproctology

    Professor Jong-hun Kim (Department of Surgery, Medical School) has been elected as the new president of the Korean Society of Coloproctology, the largest domestic society in the field of coloproctology.

    Accordingly, Professor Kim will serve a one-year term through April of next year and will devote himself to advancing the field of coloproctology.

    The Korean Society of Coloproctology was founded in 1967 with the aim of promoting research in coloproctology and improving patient health. It comprises 1,780 physicians specializing in coloproctology. The society publishes the Journal of the Korean Society of Coloproctology four times a year and issues clinical practice guidelines for colorectal cancer in Koreans, contributing significantly to colorectal cancer treatment and research in the country.

    Professor Kim said, "I feel the heavy responsibility of leading the most prestigious society in the field of coloproctology in the country," and added, "I will do my best to contribute to the society's core mission of advancing scholarship and improving patient care."

    A graduate of the medical school of our university, Professor Kim was appointed in 1989 and has since served as Director of Surgery at the university hospital, Head of the Emergency Department, Director of Education and Research, Chairman of the Samnam Surgical Society, Director of the Korean Surgical Society, Chair of the Education and Training Committee and Chair of International Affairs of the Korean Society of Coloproctology, and an organizing committee member for the 24th World Congress of Coloproctology. In recognition of his contributions to coloproctology research and treatment, he received a commendation from the Korean Medical Association last year.
