Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has signed a family company partnership agreement with Dasan Networks Co., Ltd. (CEO Nam Min-woo), the nation’s largest IT networking equipment manufacturer, and pledged to engage in Industry–University Collaboration to cultivate IT professionals and advance technology.
The two institutions held the signing ceremony on April 17 at 4:30 PM in the Conference Room on the 8th Floor of the Headquarters, attended by Executive Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun of JBNU, Dasan Networks CEO Nam Min-woo, and other key officials.
Dasan Networks, founded in 1993, is the country’s leading manufacturer of internet networking equipment. It has branches in the United States, Japan, and China, and recorded sales of 160 billion won last year, making it one of Korea’s top IT companies.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will exchange research and field personnel in the IT sector, engage in Technology Transfer, jointly host seminars, and make joint use of equipment and facilities to share technology and information.
In particular, Dasan Networks plans to actively support JBNU students in undertaking on-site internships at the company and in securing employment, which is expected to play a significant role in improving student employment rates.
Executive Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun said, 'The IT industry is a core driver of national economic growth, and JBNU is focusing on cultivating the next generation of experts, centered on IT-related departments. I hope this agreement will create opportunities for a win‑win outcome for both institutions, and that more of JBNU's outstanding talents will enter related fields.'
Meanwhile, following the signing ceremony, Dasan Networks CEO Nam Min-woo gave a special lecture to JBNU students titled 'Entrepreneurial Spirit and the Future of Ventures,' which received a strong response.
In the lecture, CEO Nam shared his personal experience of moving from a large company to small and medium enterprises and then founding a company, overcoming many difficulties to build Dasan Networks. He emphasized to the students the importance of always doing one’s best, acting with integrity and total commitment, and maintaining an attitude of adapting to change and prevailing trends.
