JBNU will begin training specialized personnel in the seed industry, which is gaining attention as a new growth industry.

JBNU was selected this year for the regionally tailored job-creation support program supported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, and will establish a seed industry professional training program and recruit trainees.

The seed industry has significant spillover effects not only in agriculture but also in the bioindustry, renewable energy, food, and pharmaceutical sectors. North Jeolla Province is actively promoting it as a new growth industry.

In particular, with the establishment of a private breeding research complex (Seed Valley) in Gimje City confirmed, cultivating outstanding personnel in this field has emerged as a critical issue.

Accordingly, JBNU will recruit 22 trainees online (http://seed.jbnu.ac.kr) and offline through May 12. After document screening and interviews, the final successful candidates will be announced on May 23. Priority will be given to applicants who have been recommended by seed and seedling companies, agricultural management entities, and other seed-industry-related organizations or heads of agricultural institutions, or to residents of North Jeolla Province.

The training, conducted by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (led by Professor Yun Seong-jung), will run from June 3 to August 23 and will focus on theoretical and field-based practical training. The main curriculum includes crop cultivation techniques and variety development, seed and seedling production and utilization technologies, seed industry ethics, and industry field practicums, covering the entire seed industry.

Tuition is fully covered by national funding, so the training is free of charge. Transportation and lunch expenses will also be reimbursed at actual cost.
