"I hope Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) students will join in practicing Rotary International's 'Service Above Self.'"
The Jeil Rotary Club of Rotary International District 3670 (President Kim Hwan-min) donated KRW 50 million on March 27 to instill the spirit of volunteerism in JBNU students.
The Jeil Rotary Club made the donation to promote Rotary International's spirit of 'Service Above Self' at the university and to provide scholarships to students who demonstrate an outstanding commitment to volunteer service.
The Rotary club, which runs "Rotaract," a student volunteer organization, plans to establish a Rotaract club at JBNU to encourage and support students' volunteer activities.
Jeil Rotary Club President Kim Hwan-min said, "JBNU has designated community service as a required general education course, making it a leading university in widely promoting the noble spirit of volunteerism among students. I hope this fund will further spread students' admirable spirit of service."
