Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), which has ranked first among regional comprehensive universities for three consecutive years in externally funded research grants and was ranked third among domestic comprehensive universities in the Leiden Ranking — an assessment of the qualitative level of science and technology publications among the world’s top 500 universities — demonstrates research competitiveness at the highest national level. JBNU has decided to partner with the Research and Development Personnel Training Center (Director Kim Sang-seon) to train specialized R&D personnel who will lead the nation’s research competitiveness.

To this end, the two institutions held a signing ceremony at 11:00 AM on March 26 in the conference room on the 8th floor of the Headquarters and agreed to work together to strengthen the capacity of early-career researchers to carry out national R&D.

The Research and Development Personnel Training Center, which entered into the agreement with JBNU that day, is an affiliated institution of the National Research Foundation of Korea and is entrusted with providing education for R&D personnel, offering high-quality training.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly develop and implement curricula, promote exchanges and information sharing among research personnel, and jointly utilize educational spaces and facilities.

President Seo Geoseok said, "JBNU, which boasts top-level research competitiveness nationwide, runs graduate programs for master's and doctoral students in science and engineering as well as professional training programs through the Industry-University Cooperation, and is committed to training R&D personnel. Applying the Research and Development Personnel Training Center's expertise in R&D personnel education to JBNU is expected to greatly help improve research competitiveness," he added.
