The 'Youth Job Concert', aimed at creating jobs for young people and fostering industry–university–government collaboration, was held on March 25 at 2:20 p.m. in Jinsudang Gain Hall.

The event was attended by about 300 people, including Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun, Kim Wan-ju, Governor of Jeollabuk-do, Song Ha-jin, Mayor of Jeonju, and representatives from major companies such as Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle as well as students. A talk concert and other programs were held.

In particular, JBNU, Jeollabuk-do, Jeonju City, and companies including Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle, Harim, Korea Central Co., Ltd., Oditec, Daelim CNC, and KEM signed an industry–university–government agreement to support university employment and agreed to make multifaceted efforts to help students secure employment more stably.

During the talk concert, Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun, Governor Kim Wan-ju, and Mayor Song Ha-jin participated as mentors and had an honest conversation with students preparing for employment.

Asked to say something encouraging to students who have not decided on a career path, Governor Kim Wan-ju said, "Creating many jobs is truly our hope, but there are still many young people who have not found jobs, so there remains much work to be done. I hope this event will be a place of cheers rather than sighs, of passion rather than worry, and of determined pursuit rather than giving up as they search for jobs."

Asked about the virtues necessary for good employment, Mayor Song Ha-jin said, "For good employment, one must first have a sense of balance and the ability to view the world evenly—a bird's-eye perspective. If one clearly decides which path to take and diligently pursues it, anyone can obtain good employment."

Asked about programs to help students gain employment at outstanding companies, Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun said, "JBNU operates a course called 'Understanding Small and Medium Enterprises' to change perceptions about SMEs and provide employment information such as company exploration. We ask Jeollabuk-do to provide greater support so that the excellence of local SMEs can be better promoted to students."
