    Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun Elected Chair of Wanju-Jeonju Carbon Industry Development Council

    Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun of our university was elected chair of the Wanju-Jeonju Carbon Industry Development Council.

    Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun was unanimously nominated by members at the launch ceremony and inaugural workshop of the Wanju-Jeonju Carbon Industry Development Council, held at the Namwon Suite Hotel on the 21st and 22nd, and will serve as the inaugural chair.

    The Wanju-Jeonju Carbon Industry Development Council is a consultative body established to bring together industry, academia, research institutions, and government to expand past achievements and advance the carbon industry so that Wanju and Jeonju can become the leading carbon-industry hub in South Korea.

    Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun, who assumed the chair, said, "To date, the efforts of Jeonju City and Wanju County have laid the groundwork for the carbon industry to develop into a core industry of Jeonbuk. Through the efforts of the Jeonju Mechanical Carbon Technology Institute and the KIST Jeonbuk Branch, carbon technologies have accumulated the strength and technical capability to compete on the global stage. Building on this well-established foundation, I will do my utmost to unite the efforts of local governments, carbon-industry related organizations, research institutes, companies, and universities to usher in an era of the carbon industry in Jeonbuk."
