Since 2008, Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), which has sent the largest number of students among single exchange-student programs to overseas universities, will again dispatch a large group of exchange students overseas this semester.

On March 8, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., JBNU held the 2013 Spring Semester Global Leader Project exchange student launching ceremony and orientation in Gain Hall, Jinsudang.

The Global Leader Project is a program in which JBNU fully covers airfare, tuition, and other expenses, dispatching approximately 700 students not only for semester terms but also during the summer and winter breaks.

This semester, 118 students will study at overseas partner universities. They will spend one semester at institutions including the University of Sheffield (UK), the University of Canberra (Australia), Shenyang Jianzhu University (China), De La Salle University and the University of the Visayas (Philippines), and Cebu Doctors' University, and will be granted 18 credits.

At the launching ceremony, participating students listened to briefings on their host universities and academic schedules for the semester, cheered together, and pledged to develop as global leaders.

Minho Kim, Director of the Office of International Cooperation, said in his encouragement address, "The Global Leader Project is the nation's largest exchange-student program, which JBNU pioneered. I hope that all dispatched students do their best to cultivate a global mindset, demonstrate a spirit of challenge, and use this experience as a foundation to achieve the great dreams they each hold."
