President Seo Geoseok has continued close communication with students since the start of the semester, receiving strong support.
On the second day of classes, March 5, President Seo stood in front of the campus gate early in the morning together with university officials. He handed rice cakes and milk to each student on their way to campus, offering warm greetings and well-wishes for the new semester.
It has already been more than three years since he began personally visiting students each new semester and during exam periods to offer warm encouragement. Students who received snacks from his surprise greeting also smiled.
After exchanging warm greetings with students for about an hour, President Seo headed to the Large Hall of the Learning Library at 10:00 a.m., where a career-related class was taking place. He intended to give a special lecture in the first career class of the new semester, urging students to pursue the dream of becoming global leaders through challenge and passion.
“Were you surprised to see me? As the new semester begins, I wanted to hear what our students are thinking and what they truly expect from the university. I also had something I wanted to say to you, so I volunteered to give this lecture.”
Students were initially taken aback by President Seo's unexpected appearance, but their eyes soon brightened.
In the special lecture, President Seo urged students to set clear goals first and to approach university life in the new semester with a persistent spirit of challenge.
President Seo plans to lecture every week for one month. This is to speak with more students, to listen directly to the issues students most want addressed, and to seek swift solutions.
President Seo said, “I took to the lectern to hear the diverse stories of students in the new semester and to become a more approachable president. I will listen closely to students' opinions and create conditions in which students are more satisfied and can study hard in a better environment.”
