Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) JBNU-BK Innovation Promotion Team operated a customized mentoring program to strengthen graduate students' practical job competencies and received a positive response.
The JBNU-BK Innovation Promotion Team announced on the 30th that it recently conducted the "Practical Customized Mentoring for Graduate Students" program for graduate students.
The program is a participatory employment support program focused on personality and job interviews and individual feedback conducted with current employees from major corporations by job function.
Starting with an orientation, the program proceeded with mock interviews conducted in the same format as real interviews, followed by individual feedback. Then, networking time was provided between the current employee mentors and participating students for Q&A on interview preparation strategies and understanding of job roles.
Mentors who are current employees from major companies such as Samsung, SK, LG, Daewoong Pharmaceutical, and HL Mando participated in the interviews. Based on students' resumes and personal statements submitted in advance, the mentors conducted in-depth one-on-one or one-to-two interviews to enhance practical interview skills.
One graduate student who participated in the program said, "I was able to immediately identify areas I had been overlooking in the interview preparation process from the perspective of a current practitioner," adding, "It was a great help in organizing how to proceed with my preparation."
A representative of the BK Innovation Promotion Team stated, "This program was designed to allow graduate students to assess their level of preparedness in a manner similar to actual hiring environments," adding, "We hope it will provide an opportunity for graduate students, who require different job preparation strategies than undergraduates, to set practical directions."
