Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has once again demonstrated that it is a university that teaches well. Recently, it was selected as an exemplary case in the 2012 University Education Capacity Enhancement Project in the Student Competency category. JBNU was the only national university so recognized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Korean Council for University Education.

The student competency enhancement program selected as an exemplary case is the IF-RDP Program, which centers on debate and writing activities.

This program drew strong student participation: from June to November last year, 527 students participated in 100 debate teams, and 82 students participated in 10 writing teams.

The program is designed to improve students' comprehensive communication skills—reading, writing, and speaking. It received favorable reviews as an effective program for enhancing problem-solving abilities through long-term team activities.

In particular, the program was praised for selecting outstanding debate teams and for enabling students' efforts to lead to actual book publications, allowing students to experience a sense of achievement.

Students participating in debate teams read books for eight weeks, prepared reports through team discussions, learned debate methods through special debate workshops, and then participated in the debate competition held in November.

The writing teams proceeded with writing through field-linked experiences, special writing lectures, and supervision by faculty advisers. Following a November results presentation, they published books and e-books. As a result, seven e-books and three books were published through 2012 writing support.
