Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) held an event to encourage students attending the winter special semester classes, which are being implemented to strengthen basic education, and received strong responses from the students.

President Seo Geoseok and University Headquarters officials visited a lecture hall in the College of Natural Science on the morning of February 7 to distribute snacks and encourage students who are diligently pursuing their studies during the vacation.

In 2011, JBNU was selected for the Undergraduate Education Advancement Leading University Development Project (ACE Project) and has been implementing various measures to strengthen students' basic education, such as a four-semester program for freshmen and a basic academic competency certification system. JBNU has been offering classes during the vacation from January 17 to February 19, including basic English and mathematics, introductory physics, fundamentals of chemistry, and statistical thinking.

Despite the vacation, the students who attended classes every day were surprised by President Seo's unexpected visit, but they responded with gratitude and laughter, creating a cordial atmosphere.

President Seo Geoseok said, “I visited the lecture hall to encourage students who are proactively attending classes during the vacation to strengthen their basic education,” adding, “The sweat you shed today will bear great fruit tomorrow.”
