Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) recorded the nation's highest pass rates in the recently held national licensure examinations for physicians, dentists, and veterinarians.

JBNU ranked among the top nationwide medical schools and graduate medical programs in the 77th National Medical Licensing Examination. The Medical School (Dean Kwak Yong-geun) had 107 passers out of 111 candidates, achieving a high pass rate of 96.4%.

This performance substantially exceeded the national average (92.4%), reaffirming JBNU's standing as an excellent medical education institution nationwide. In particular, among large universities that produced more than 100 graduates from medical programs, JBNU outperformed most universities in the Seoul area and, together with Kyungpook National University, achieved the top results.

Similarly, the School of Dentistry also achieved the nation's highest pass rate on the dental licensure examination. In the recently announced 65th National Dental Licensing Examination, the School of Dentistry had 40 passers out of 41 candidates, recording a pass rate of 97.6%.

This is significantly higher than the national average of 94.1% and is interpreted as further confirmation that JBNU's School of Dentistry is the nation's leading dental education institution.

The College of Veterinary Medicine (Dean Kim In-sik) also ranked first nationwide in the recently announced veterinary licensure examination. The college had 45 passers out of 47 candidates, recording a pass rate of 95.7%.

These results greatly exceed this year's national average pass rate of 85.7% and represent the highest pass rate among the ten universities nationwide that have a College of Veterinary Medicine.

Since 2005, JBNU has achieved the remarkable feat of a 100% pass rate on six occasions. Despite a higher number of failures at universities nationwide this year compared with previous years, JBNU again attained top results, reaffirming its position as the country's premier cradle for training veterinarians.

The reason JBNU produces top national results across various licensure examinations each year is the synergistic effect of generous institutional support and students' continuous efforts at self-improvement.

Analysts attribute the Medical School's high pass rate to intensive instruction rooted in faculty dedication to teaching and exceptional student mentorship, active support from the university headquarters and the university hospital, and recognition as a top institution in medical education accreditation—factors that together reflect the high quality of its medical education.

The School of Dentistry has also been the only institution nationwide to fully adopt the student-centered educational method of problem-based learning (PBL), presenting a new paradigm in dental education domestically and abroad.

For the College of Veterinary Medicine, students form study groups in their fourth year to prepare for examinations. As part of efforts to strengthen employment competencies, the college has implemented a systematic, university-level licensure exam preparation system—including its own mock exams, a question bank, and discussion-based problem approaches—which analysts say has been a driving force behind its success.
