Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Alumni Association (President Jeong Byeong-ha) New Year's reception was held grandly on January 31 at 7:00 p.m. in the Reception Hall on the first floor of the Samsung Arts Center. About 100 people attended, including Capital-Area Alumni Association President Lee Yong-jae, alumni association executives, alumnus members of the National Assembly, city and county heads, and university alumni professors.
On the day, President Jeong Byeong-ha emphasized in his welcoming remarks, "Let us unite the strength of 200,000 alumni to lead regional development," and President Seo Geo-seok said, "We appreciate the alumni's support for the university."
National Assemblymember Kim Yoon-duk (Class of '85, Department of Accounting) said, "It is regrettable that regional universities have a weak presence in the Seoul metropolitan area," adding, "I will support JBNU's development through my legislative activities."
National Assemblymember Yoo Seong-yeop, who became affiliated with the university through the senior leadership program, delivered a congratulatory speech as a representative of graduate alumni and proposed, "Let us pursue regional development centered on JBNU as a regional flagship national university." National Assemblymember Jeon Jeong-hee also proposed, "Let us unite the strength of JBNU."
Jeongeup Mayor Kim Saeng-gi, Kim Ho-su of Buan, and Sunchang County Governor Hwang Suk-ju also delivered greetings, saying, "Let the region and university alumni collaborate to build a prosperous North Jeolla Province."
Alumni active across various sectors attended the event, including Park Seong-il, Executive Vice Governor of North Jeolla Province; Director Kim Kwang-hwi; NongHyup Headquarters Director Kim Chang-su; Jeonbuk Bank Vice President Kim Jong-won; Jeonju Broadcasting President Shin Hyo-gyun; and Kim Tae-jung, chairman of the JBNU Alumni Journalists Association.
