Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) will announce the list of 2,617 successful applicants for the 2013 regular admissions, Groups 'Ga' and 'Na', at 2:00 p.m. on January 29, 2013.

Applicants to JBNU can check their admission results on the homepage (http://enter.chonbuk.ac.kr) by entering their examinee number or resident registration number in the admissions announcement section.

The registration period for applicants who passed the regular admissions is February 5–8, 2013, and tuition may be paid at Jeonbuk Bank or any branch of NongHyup.

Meanwhile, in this regular admissions cycle JBNU received 4,700 applicants for 1,275 openings in the 'Ga' group, a competition ratio of 3.7:1, while in the 'Na' group the general admission received 5,128 applicants for 1,295 openings, a competition ratio of 4:1.

    ▲New Students: Benefits Are 'Limitless'

JBNU charges among the lowest tuition nationwide while offering scholarships at the highest levels in the country. The scholarship receipt rate among JBNU students is 70.5%, meaning seven out of ten students received scholarships.

Scholarships for outstanding new students are also generous. These include first-, second-, and third-class scholarships for excellent college entrance exam scores, college top-student scholarships, and high school principal recommendation scholarships. Benefits range from exemption from alumni association fees and full tuition waivers to a per-semester tuition subsidy of KRW 2,000,000 and priority selection for overseas study.

In addition to scholarships, overseas dispatch programs are plentiful. Through the 'Global Leader Project' program, JBNU supports approximately 800 students annually to study for one semester at partner universities abroad.

Through the 'World Education Tour', about 100 students are sent to developed countries to experience advanced cultures. In addition, overseas volunteer activities that promote JBNU globally and overseas exchange programs enable around 400 students each year to develop global sensibilities.

Beyond these, programs that build students' profiles to enhance employability—such as the 'Big Person Project', the nationally recognized 'Lifelong Mentor-Advisor System', and the 'Global Leader Project'—are special benefits available to all incoming JBNU students.

    ▲A University That Satisfies Students

JBNU is the university with the highest student satisfaction nationwide. Last year, it ranked first nationwide on the Korea Service Quality Index (KS-SQI) by the Korea Standards Association and ranked first among national universities in JoongAng Ilbo's comprehensive student satisfaction survey, which attests to this fact.

The title of being a university that satisfies students was not earned by chance. JBNU has worked to create proper educational conditions for serious study by expanding study rooms and substantially increasing employment and startup clubs, among other measures.

Furthermore, JBNU has continuously enhanced student welfare by constructing the nation's largest modern residence hall, accommodating some 4,200 students, expanding study rooms for students, remodeling student cafeterias, and diversifying menus.

In particular, last year JBNU was selected for the 'Advancement of Undergraduate Education Leading Project (ACE Project)', which recognizes the best teaching universities among more than 200 institutions nationwide, and has spared no investment in strengthening basic and major education. The president's direct engagement in soliciting students' opinions and reflecting them in university affairs through 'Dialogues with Students' is also evaluated as a factor contributing to high student satisfaction.

In addition, JBNU froze tuition for three consecutive years from 2009 to 2011, then reduced tuition by 5.6% last year—the largest reduction among national universities—and has again frozen tuition this year to ease the burden on students and parents. Moreover, scholarships amount to nearly 50% of total tuition revenue, effectively realizing half-price tuition.
