“Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Is A Source Of Pride For Its Alumni. We Hope JBNU Continues To Develop, And That Its Junior Students Can Study In A Better Environment.”
The Alumni Association of Hyundai Motor Company Namyang Research Center (Chair Min Jong-cheol, Precision Machinery, Class of '79) donated 20 million won to support the development of JBNU.
Chair Min and the alumni held a New Year greeting gathering on January 25 and invited Cha Yeon-su, Vice-President of the Office of Planning, and officials from the Division of University Development to attend the donation ceremony.
The donated fund was collected monthly by about 80 alumni members. It reflects the seniors' warm wish to help junior students at JBNU focus on their studies in a better environment.
Min Jong-cheol, chair of the alumni association, said, “Recently, alumni feel great pride as JBNU regains the stature it held in the 1970s and 1980s and is developing into a national university representative of Korea. Although our scholarship is not a large amount, we hope it will help students who study diligently despite difficult circumstances.”
He added, “Although we are often far from JBNU, our alumni's affection for their juniors is second to none. Through this donation, the alumni will unite to contribute to JBNU's development.”
