Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is hosting Feeling Korea, a Korean cultural experience program, inviting a large number of international students during the winter break.

This winter’s Feeling Korea program will be held in two sessions, each lasting two weeks: January 21 to February 1 and February 13 to 24.

A total of 139 international students will attend JBNU this winter to take Korean language classes and participate in Korean cultural experience programs. They come from 27 universities, including Hokkaido, Nagasaki, and Chiba universities in Japan, as well as institutions in China, Taiwan, and Mongolia.

On the program’s first day, the 21st, a program introduction and welcome ceremony was held at Jinsudang Gain Hall from 10:00 a.m., attended by university officials including Park Yong-jin, Director of International Exchange, participating international students, and volunteer students.

During the program, the international students will take a total of 30 hours of Korean language instruction. Through this, they will have time to learn Korean grammar and conversation and to gain an understanding of Korean culture.

Each afternoon, students will tour areas such as Jeonju Hanok Village, the Sori Culture Center, and museums to experience various aspects of Korean culture, including pungmul (traditional percussion), woodblock printing, traditional cooking, fan craft, and traditional etiquette.

On that day, Park Yong-jin, Director of International Exchange, said in his welcome address, "This program provides an opportunity to introduce our university and Korean culture to foreign students and to reaffirm the strong ties with our sister universities," and added, "I hope that through the diverse Korean cultural experiences provided by JBNU, the international students gathered here will come to know Korean culture properly and have a good opportunity to share it with the world."

Meanwhile, the Feeling Korea program began in February 2002 and has been held every summer and winter break, inviting students from leading sister universities around the world.
