Kim Gwan-seop, a student at the Medical School, was selected as a recipient of the 2012 Korea Talent Award by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, and received a Presidential Citation.
"The Korea Talent Award" seeks to discover creative and outstanding individuals who will lead the nation’s future and to establish a desirable model of talent. It was elevated to a Presidential Citation from the "21st Century Outstanding Talent Award," which had been held since 2001, and has been presented since 2008.
Despite a busy academic schedule, Kim Gwan-seop has participated in a variety of external activities through on-campus programs, including volunteer work, inventions, production of learning content, overseas study, and study-group activities.
On the basis of these activities, he achieved notable results, including receiving last year the ACE Top Award in the Education Capacity Enhancement Project, winning awards in the Korean Intellectual Property Office’s Invention Idea Competition, and earning prizes in various campus contests.
Kim Gwan-seop said, "This award is more than I deserve, but I believe it means I should work harder and fulfill the duties I will take on in society." He added, "I dedicate this honor to the Medical School professors, including Professors Kim Sun-hee and Kim Jong-hoon, who gave me the courage to overcome difficulties, and to the university for providing various opportunities for my growth."
