"Let alumni journalists join forces to help our alma mater become a globally distinguished university representing Korea."

The "Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Alumni Journalists Association" (President Kim Tae-jung), a group of current and former journalists who graduated from the university, held its "Alumni Journalists New Year's Gathering" on January 10 at 7:00 PM in Jinsudang Gain Hall. Attendees exchanged New Year's greetings and socialized.

The event was well attended by more than 100 current and former alumni journalists from newspapers, broadcasters and news agencies, including President Seo Geoseok and Vice-President Jung Hang-geun, administrative faculty, and Kim Tae-jung, President of the Alumni Journalists Association (Economics, Class of 1980).

Chaired by Jeonju MBC announcer Seo Ji-hee (Department of Mass Communication, Class of 2000), the gathering featured a screening of a video showcasing JBNU's development, followed by presentations on the university's vision and current status.

At the awards ceremony for the "JBNU Alumni Journalists Award", which recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves in the media over the past year, the honors were presented to Cho Sang-jin, Editorial Writer and Senior Reporter at Jeonbuk Ilbo (Law, Class of 1975); Choi Dong-seong, General Affairs Director and Editorial Writer at Jeonbuk Ilbo (Public Administration, Class of 1978); and Hong Su-gi, YTN Jeonju Bureau Chief (Public Administration, Class of 1975).

In his welcome address, President Seo Geoseok said, "It would not be an exaggeration to say that the future of our alma mater, our local community and the nation depends on the role of the alumni journalists present here." He added, "Based on a commitment to uphold journalistic integrity, please do your utmost for regional and national development, and continue to take a keen interest in the advancement of our alma mater."

Kim Tae-jung, President of the Alumni Journalists Association (Director of Media & Video Planning and Editorial Writer, Jeonbuk Domin Ilbo), said, "JBNU is the place where we spent the most important period of our lives and the institution that made us who we are today." He added, "Going forward, I will work to strengthen ties between the university, the Alumni Journalists Association and fellow alumni so that we can play a greater role in raising the university's standing and supporting its development."
