Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has been selected as the top university nationwide for recruiting and managing international students. It is the only university in the province.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Justice recently evaluated 350 universities nationwide (212 four-year universities and 138 junior colleges) under the '2012 International Student Recruitment and Management Capacity Accreditation (IEQAS)' and selected 30 universities for Excellent Accreditation and 13 universities for visa issuance restrictions.

JBNU was selected as an accredited university for international student recruitment and management because it achieved the highest scores across all indicators, including students' language proficiency, dormitory provision rate, financial soundness, dropout rate, and health insurance enrollment rate.

JBNU currently hosts 1,200 international students and sends more than 1,000 students abroad each year. In addition, through its annual 'International Summer University,' students from leading universities around the world study Korean language and culture at JBNU. JBNU also uniquely operates the U.S. State Department-sponsored Korean language education 'CLS Program' among domestic universities, attracting students from top U.S. universities every year.

Accordingly, JBNU will hold the government accreditation for the next three years. The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology plans to publish the accreditation results domestically and internationally to provide reliable information for international students when selecting universities. The ministry also plans to disclose the results to foreign governments upon request and to provide incentives in university support programs.
