우리 교수진, 우수 연구 및 대외활동 '두각'   Our university's faculty members have recently enhanced the university's reputation by achieving notable awards and engaging in distinguished external activities based on outstanding research.

강진하 ▲Professor Kang Jin-ha (Department of Wood Science and Technology) received the 2012 Korea Forest Environment Grand Prize awarded by the Korea Forest Environment Protection Association.
Professor Kang has been praised for his development of high value-added products and research, including eco-friendly wood processing and resource-saving recyclable wood utilization technologies, and for contributing to academic research, industrial development, and the cultivation of creative talent who will pioneer a new era of wood culture. He also serves as Chair of the Millennium Jeonju Hanji Culture Forum and has contributed to the promotion and development of Jeonju hanji.

▲Professor Lee Hoe-seon (Department of Bioenvironmental Chemistry) received the 2012 Hwanong Academic Award presented by the Hwanong Research Foundation.
Professor Lee, who has been highly productive in fields such as new drug development (anti-diabetic, anti-allergy, gut microbiota, etc.), LED applications, and the development of natural bio-agro-materials, has achieved outstanding research results, publishing approximately 170 SCI papers and 50 Scopus papers over the past decade. In particular, last year he advanced research on developing a functional food that lowers blood glucose and could treat diabetes using components extracted from wheat shoots.

▲Professor Kim Cheon-gi (Department of Education) was elected as the 22nd president of the Korean Association for Educational Sociology at the recent winter symposium and general meeting. Accordingly, Professor Kim will lead the association for two years through 2014, taking the lead in policy development and research activities related to education. The Korean Association for Educational Sociology was founded in April 1967 to contribute to the development of Korean education through scholarly research on the sociological foundations of education and educational processes in society.

▲Professor Baek Jong-in (Law School) was appointed president of the Korean Association of Public Law and will lead the association for one year through the end of this year.
Professor Baek stated, "We will pay active attention to constitutional reform debates expected with the new government, reforms for decentralization, balanced regional development, and policies for economic democratization, in order to provide a public-law response to national policy challenges. Through this, the association will fulfill its responsibilities in the face of changing times and promote balanced regional development in scholarship."

▲Professor Lee Jeong-ryul (Department of Aerospace Engineering), together with Visiting Professor Park Chan-ik of the Los Alamos–Jeonbuk National University Korea Engineering Institute, was the first in the country to propose a methodology whereby an aircraft can detect damage analogous to human pain using smart sensors.
This research, titled "Development of Structural Health Monitoring Technology for Aircraft Using Smart Sensors," was recently selected as an exemplary government R&D achievement by the National Science and Technology Council.
In this study, Visiting Professor Park conducted the world’s first bird-strike test on an aircraft wing using high-speed fiber-optic sensors and demonstrated that structural vibrations and the precise impact location can be detected. Professor Lee developed a laser-based ultrasound imaging system and, for the first time worldwide, validated this technology on an actual aircraft structure, enabling detection of damage at the millimeter scale.

▲Distinguished Professor Lee Mun-ho published Jacket Matrices, a compilation of 30 years of research on the "Jacket Matrix," which he discovered, through the German publisher LAP LAMBERT. In this book, Professor Lee details over ten chapters the motivation for the discovery of Jacket matrices, their construction, and applications to communications signal processing.
With regard to Jacket matrix research, Professor Lee has produced leading work in the field, publishing some 160 SCI papers.
