“I think I will be able to have a fulfilling college life because I will have a good mentor even before starting university life.”
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), which has the highest student satisfaction among universities nationwide due to its continuous communication with students, held a mentor–mentee pairing ceremony on December 27 for prospective students admitted through the Admissions Officer System to support their adjustment to university life. The event received a strong response.
The pairing ceremony, organized to strengthen connections between prospective students prior to matriculation and senior students and to enhance both adaptability to school and creative capabilities, was attended by 320 successful applicants admitted through the Admissions Officer screening, 20 current students, and 10 full-time admissions officers. Various programs to aid adjustment to university life were held alongside the ceremony.
The event offered student support programs, special lectures, mentor–mentee pairings among new students, current students, and admissions officers, and discussion sessions to provide opportunities to cultivate self-directed learning skills for developing incoming students' potential. It drew positive responses from the prospective students.
Vice-President Jeong Hang-geun delivered a congratulatory address, saying, “JBNU has been strengthening its educational substance, not only through faculty research but also by being recognized by the government last year for excellence in teaching.” He urged, “I ask mentor seniors and mentee freshmen to work together so that the incoming students admitted through the Admissions Officer screening, who possess outstanding potential, creativity, and enthusiasm, can make their university life the most rewarding time of their lives.”
