Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has established an admission track for employed graduates of specialized high schools and is beginning active recruitment.
JBNU said it was selected as a leading university for the "Support System for Employment-First, Higher Education-Later" project supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and has newly established the "Special Admissions Track for Employed Graduates of Specialized High Schools" with a quota of 30 students in the Regular Admissions 'Na' category. Applications will be accepted from the 21st to the 26th.
In particular, the university decided to select applicants through the Admissions Officer Track — which had previously recruited only in the first round of early admissions — without reflecting College Scholastic Ability Test results.
The recruiting unit for this track is the Department of Bioscience & Rural Resources, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The program will be offered as evening weekday and weekend courses, and currently employed individuals who graduated from a specialized high school and have at least three years of work experience in industry are eligible to apply.
The criteria for the applicant's high school include specialized high schools (agricultural, technical, commercial, home economics/vocational tracks), Meister high schools (industry-demand tailored high schools), and comprehensive high schools that include departments operating curricula equivalent to those of specialized high schools.
The scope of eligible workplaces includes national and local governments and public organizations, workplaces with five or more regular employees, and companies enrolled in at least one of the four major social insurance programs. Workers not enrolled in the four major insurances (the self-employed and those working in agriculture and fisheries) may qualify by submitting a certificate issued by a national or local government body.
The selection method involves a first-stage comprehensive document review to select three times the number of candidates, followed by a second-stage in-depth interview to determine the final successful applicants. This recruitment will use the Admissions Officer Track, and results of the College Scholastic Ability Test will not be reflected in the evaluation.
Park Jong-min, Director of the Admissions Management Headquarters, said, "This special admissions track for employed graduates of specialized high schools will serve as an opportunity to cultivate professionals who will lead domestic industry innovatively," adding, "We plan to expand it to the College of Engineering and the College of Business and Economics in the future."
