Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) opened the University Press & Broadcasting Service on the morning of December 5 and has begun efforts to enhance the quality of research and education by strengthening the publication support system for faculty.
The University Press & Broadcasting Service, which opened today, will publish academic books and university textbooks to improve the quality of university publications and to foster academic culture. It will also be responsible for tasks such as the development of electronic books.
In particular, by directly publishing textbooks for liberal arts, major courses, and language classes, it will contribute to strengthening JBNU's educational competitiveness. Producing academic and general humanities books, as well as research institute and academic society proceedings, is also expected to significantly bolster research capabilities.
It is also expected that publishing scholarly books and planned works unique to JBNU will significantly raise the university's brand value.
Choi Young-jun, Director of the University Press & Broadcasting Service, said, "The University Press & Broadcasting Service opened today will generate JBNU's distinctive scholarly cultural assets and will make a significant contribution to brand creation. Going forward, we will do our utmost to become a University Press & Broadcasting Service where the intellect and sensibility of not only the Jeonbuk region but also Korea and, further, the world can live and breathe."
President Seo Geoseok said, "Universities must do their best to fulfill their core functions of transmitting and generating knowledge, so publishing is a very important element. I hope the University Press & Broadcasting Service, through vigorous activity, will stimulate faculty members' enthusiasm for publishing and, by releasing high-quality books, establish itself as a repository of knowledge representing Korea."
