JBNU's employment rate ranked second among regional national universities, placing it at a very high level.
According to employment rate statistics as of December 31, 2011, published on the university information disclosure site 'University Alimi' (www.academyinfo.go.kr), JBNU had 2,125 employed out of 3,904 graduates, recording an employment rate of 62.7%.
This surpassed all other regional national universities except Kyungpook National University. Considering the relatively weak regional economic base compared with other areas, the employment rate is evaluated as very high.
In particular, it is analyzed that JBNU has been effectively implementing the university's concrete roadmap to significantly enhance educational competitiveness and translate it into employment competitiveness, producing visible results.
In fact, after ranking third among regional national universities in the first half of 2011, JBNU's employment rate increased by 10.4% in the second half alone, the second-largest increase.
The reason JBNU achieved a top national employment ranking is interpreted as the realization of the nation's highest student satisfaction through enhanced educational competitiveness, and the synergy effect of systematic career and employment guidance from admission to graduation centered on the Career Support Center.
In particular, the integrated career management program 'Keunsaram Project' and the Lifelong Faculty Advising System, regularly held on-campus recruitment briefings and job fairs during semesters, and tailored employment camps have made practical contributions to student employment.
Moreover, initiatives begun last year—inviting HR officers from the country's top 200 companies for roundtable meetings and active, on-the-ground efforts by the president, administrative faculty members, and students personally visiting companies—also contributed to the high employment rate. Through these efforts, JBNU was selected this year as a university recognized by the government for excellence in employment support.
President Seo Geoseok said, "JBNU's high employment ranking is due to the solid foundation of being a university that teaches well, combined with systematic employment support, creating a synergistic effect," and added, "We will further enhance educational competitiveness so that it leads to employment, and build a university where every student can graduate with a smile."
