Students belonging to the Global Trade Experts Training Project Group have distinguished themselves in various recent trade remedy competitions, including winning the top prize at a national paper presentation contest for the sixth consecutive year.

The Project Group won the Grand Prize at the 13th National University and Graduate Student Trade Remedy Paper Presentation Competition, recently held at the Trade Center in Samseong-dong, Seoul, organized by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Korea International Trade Association.

The awardees were three students: Lee Ju-seok (3rd year, Department of International Trade), Park Jin-mi (3rd year, Department of International Trade), and Kim Hwa-eun (3rd year, Department of International Trade). In the competition, they received praise for a paper entitled "Issues and Responses Concerning Intellectual Property Rights in the Pharmaceutical Industry under the Korea–U.S. FTA," which presented domestic damages resulting from the Korea–U.S. FTA and suggested countermeasures.

In particular, students from leading domestic universities engaged in heated debates over each team’s presentation topics, and the university team drew considerable attention from the judges with their logical responses.

In addition, on November 15 the Project Group further enhanced its reputation by winning the Grand Prize at the 8th National University Student Trade Remedy Competition, organized by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Korea Federation of SMEs.

The team that competed in this contest—Hwang Du-hyun (3rd year, Department of Business Administration), Lee Ju-seok (3rd year, Department of International Trade), and Park Min-seong (3rd year, Department of Industrial Information)—advanced through the preliminary round to compete against nine university teams from across the country in the finals. They received high marks from the judges for raising awareness of the patent dispute between Galaxy and iPhone under the theme "Samsung–Apple Patent War," a recent international hot issue.

The reason the university has been able to stand out in various trade remedy competitions for several years is that the Global Trade Experts Training Project Group maximizes educational effectiveness in global trade through theoretical and practical training. The Project Group provides weekly analyses of current global trade issues and supports exports of small and medium-sized enterprises in the province overseas, including in China.

Lee Ju-seok, who prepared the paper for six months for this competition, said, "As a student receiving trade expert education and training from the Global Trade Experts Training Project Group, I am proud to have overcome intense competition, advance to the finals, and receive the prestigious Grand Prize. I will continue to strive to become an excellent global trade expert in the future."

Professor Yoon Chung-won (Department of International Trade), the supervising professor, stated, "That our students have won the Grand Prize at this competition for six consecutive years is an unprecedented achievement among other universities. I feel rewarded for guiding the students' papers late into the night over the past months, and I will continue to support their development as trade experts."
