"I treasured these items, but if someone else needs them more, they should be shared!"
The University, which has held a large-scale sharing market every year to help neighbors in need, rolled up its sleeves again this year. The "2012 Sharing Market" began at 11:00 a.m. on November 13, 2012.
The event drew a large crowd through the afternoon, including President Seo Geo-seok, Vice-President Shin Hyo-geun, administrative faculty and other professors, staff, students, and local residents.
In particular, President Seo Geo-seok and administrative officers at Headquarters sold items directly at the stalls and exchanged smiles and greetings with members of the University community and local residents, adding to the event's spirit of communication.
The sharing market is a meaningful occasion that breathes warm neighborly care into items collected with sincerity by members of the University community. It is also an opportunity to practice green growth through the reuse of goods.
For this sharing market, the University collected donations of clothing, home appliances, books, children's items, accessories, and other goods from all members by November 9, 2012, gathering approximately 6,000 items. It also sold 10,000-won sharing coupons to members for use at the market, and all proceeds will be used to support neighbors in need at the end of the year.
This year, high-value, new, and rare donated items were selected for a separate auction, creating a scene different from previous years.
President Seo Geo-seok said, "The sharing market our University holds every year is a meaningful event for a leading regional university to practice sharing with local residents," adding, "I hope the warm hands of our members will rekindle hope for neighbors in need at the end of the year."
