The university has finalized the 2013 academic year regular admissions guidelines and will begin recruiting outstanding new students.

According to the regular admissions guidelines, 984 students will be admitted in Group A and 1,061 in Group B, totaling 2,045 students.

Applications for both Group A and Group B will be accepted online only from December 21–28, 2012 via Uway Apply Co., Ltd. (http://www.uwayapply.com) and other designated online services.

The practical skills test for Arts and Physical Education Departments held in Group B will be conducted on January 15, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., and final successful applicants will be announced on January 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. on the university's admissions information website (http://enter.jbnu.ac.kr).

No documents are required for Group A applicants in the regular admissions. However, because Group B reflects school records, applicants who have not consented to online provision of their school records or who graduated from high school before February, 2007 must submit a copy of their school records.

CSAT score weighting for the humanities is Language and Foreign Language 30% each, and Mathematics and Inquiry 20% each. For the natural sciences, Mathematics and Foreign Language are 30% each, and Language and Inquiry are 20% each. The Divsion of Public Science (formerly the Faculty of Convergence Autonomous Major) reflects Language and Foreign Language at 35% each, Mathematics 10%, and Inquiry 10%. The newly established The School of International Studies reflects Foreign Language 40%, Language 30%, Mathematics 20%, and Inquiry 10%.

When both Mathematics Type A and Type B are reflected simultaneously, examinees who took Mathematics Type A will have 10% added to their CSAT standard score. Humanities admission units are excluded.

Meanwhile, the university is enhancing competitiveness from the 2013 academic year by establishing specialized departments and merging similar departments.

In the 2013 admissions, the College of Commerce will establish a 20-seat The School of International Studies program taught in English, and a 26-seat Division of Convergence Technology Engineering will be established at the industry–academia convergence campus to be located at the newly opened Gunsan-Saemangeum Campus.

Additionally, to improve competitiveness among similar departments, the Department of Bio-Food Engineering has been abolished, and the quota for the Department of Food Science and Technology, which previously admitted 35 students, has been increased to 50.

At the same time, the Faculty of Convergence Autonomous Major has been renamed the Divsion of Public Science, and the Department of Environmental Landscape Design has been renamed the Department of Ecology Landscape Architecture-Design.
