Kim So‑mi, a fourth‑year student in the Department of Journalism and Broadcasting, participated this summer in the employment support program 'Becoming a Corporate Expert' and sought out advertising agencies she aspires to join, such as TBWA KOREA and BIC ANT INTERNATIONAL. Kim says that by interviewing a CEO who had swept the country's five major advertising awards, she was able to learn the qualifications required to enter her desired companies and even gained valuable personal contacts.
The 'Becoming a Corporate Expert' program, which was selected as an exemplary employment support case by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has been well received by students for increasing their understanding of the companies and job roles they hope to enter.
'Becoming a Corporate Expert' is a program that supports students' successful employment by having them visit companies they wish to join and meet with HR personnel and alumni working in those companies, so they can understand in advance and prepare for the requirements employers seek.
The University provided company visit activity expenses and related support to 91 teams (312 students) over the two months of July and August during the summer vacation, helping students visit 193 companies so they could prepare in advance for the employment requirements companies demand.
From these efforts, ten teams that achieved outstanding results were selected, and an awards ceremony was held on the morning of October 29 to recognize and encourage the students.
At the ceremony, the team of Kim So‑mi (Department of Journalism and Broadcasting) and Park Jin‑woo (Division of Biomedical Engineering) won the Grand Prize and received KRW 1,000,000. Students Go Deok‑gwon, Kim Min‑seok, Ji Hyuk and Ha Jeong‑ho from the Department of Semiconductor Science and Technology, who had visited Samsung Electronics and LG Display, received the Gold Prize and KRW 700,000. Two teams received the Silver Prize, each awarded KRW 500,000, and six teams received the Encouragement Prize, each awarded KRW 300,000.
Park Jin‑woo (third year, Division of Biomedical Engineering), a member of the Grand Prize team, said, "I was very interested in marketing and advertising, and by participating in this program I was able to experience firsthand the corporate structures, communication theory and marketing theory I had only read about in books. It was a very valuable experience. Thanks to 'Becoming a Corporate Expert', I gained the confidence that 'I can do anything' before starting any work and can prepare for employment."
At the awards ceremony, President Seo Geoseok said, "The 'Becoming a Corporate Expert' program provides opportunities for company analysis and job analysis to students who have difficulty setting career paths due to a lack of understanding of companies or job roles. It is structured to help them grow into the talent companies want. I hope many students participate, learn about the companies they desire in advance, and take this opportunity to do their best to succeed in employment."
