Our university, marking its 65th anniversary this year, held an anniversary ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on the 17th at Jinsudang Gain Hall and pledged to make a greater leap forward.

At the ceremony, attended by some 500 faculty and staff, three employees including Yun Jeong-sook from the Division of General Affairs received commendations for 40 years of service. In addition, 43 individuals including Professor Kim Young-mun (Department of Architectural Engineering) received commendations for 30 years of service; 64 individuals including Professor So Byeong-mun (Department of IT Applied System Engineering) received commendations for 20 years of service; and 43 individuals including Professor Kang Chae-dong (Department of Mechanical Engineering) received commendations for 10 years of service.

President Seo Geoseok said, "Our university has been evaluated as having risen in the JoongAng Ilbo university rankings for five consecutive years, ranking fifth nationwide in the Leiden Ranking — which gauges the qualitative level of research papers — and receiving the highest rating in the Education Capacity Enhancement Project, among other achievements, placing it among Korea's leading universities." He added, "Such changes were made possible by the sweat and passion of all members, including the faculty and staff who received long-service awards."

He continued, "We must not be satisfied with this. For our university to stand shoulder to shoulder with world-class institutions, every member must undertake their work with a sense of responsibility. Only then will we all become protagonists of our university's history, and the university itself can become a protagonist in the history of higher education in our country."

Finally, President Seo Geoseok emphasized, "Looking back on the process through which our university has developed, we can learn a very important lesson: university development occurred when we earnestly sought change. Once again, let us carefully review the university's systems and institutions and proactively seek change so that we can write Jeonbuk National University (JBNU)'s great history with our own hands."
