"My lecture fee? It's not a large amount, but wouldn't allocating it as a scholarship provide significant motivation for the students?"
On October 4, Kim Sang-guk, CEO of Vitamin House (47), who lectures the career elective course 'Understanding Small and Medium Enterprises' run by the Career Support Headquarters, spent a meaningful time after his lecture. He combined the entire lecture fee he received with an amount contributed by the company and awarded it as a scholarship to one student who took the course.
Having taught this course since last semester, he decided to direct his lecture fee toward a student scholarship as a more meaningful use of the funds. Although it is not a large sum, he believes it can serve as a strong motivator for students as they prepare for their futures.
He said he is very pleased to see a bright future in the students as he shared his personal story of rising from a sales representative to the CEO of a company with KRW 150 billion in sales, along with his management values.
The scholarship recipient that day was Ji‑hun Eom, a fourth-year student in the Department of Business Administration. He said, "Over the past semester, attending the course helped me develop a proper understanding of small and medium enterprises and establish personal values, which was extremely beneficial. Receiving such a valuable scholarship has strengthened my resolve to work harder so I can, in turn, help future students."
Kim Sang-guk stated, "Like our students, I also went through difficult years in my youth. I know well how meaningful it is to give even a small measure of encouragement, so I decided to provide this scholarship. Though the amount is modest, I hope it becomes a valuable seed as students prepare for their futures."
The course 'Understanding Small and Medium Enterprises' is offered to third- and fourth-year students preparing for employment. It invites representatives and experts from outstanding SMEs and major companies. By introducing excellent SMEs and addressing occupational values and entrepreneurship, the course plays an important role in boosting students' confidence as they seek employment.
