Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) held a workshop to enhance the evaluation expertise of its admissions officers.

JBNU held a two-day workshop on the 4th and 5th for 68 evaluators, including full-time and faculty-appointed admissions officers who will participate in the first-stage evaluation of the 2013 admissions officers selection.

The workshop was held ahead of the evaluation of the non-curricular sections of the student record and document review, which will be conducted in the first stage of the 2013 admissions officers selection. The workshop included a Q&A on actual evaluations and presented various measures for thorough document assessment.

Admissions officers participating in the 2013 admissions officers selection will conduct detailed evaluations in teams of three. For each applicant, three evaluators will perform stepwise qualitative and comprehensive assessments of the applicant's non-curricular sections of the student record and supporting documents. If there is a large discrepancy in scores among evaluators, a re-evaluation will be conducted to ensure fairness. Through this process, the first-stage successful candidates will be announced at 2:00 PM on October 26.

In the first-stage evaluation of the admissions officers selection, curricular grades in the student record (50%) and the non-curricular sections of the student record and document evaluation (50%) are each reflected. The Keun-saram Track, Rural Students Track, and Opportunity-Balancing Selection will select three times the number of candidates at the first stage, while the Regional Harmony Talent Track will select twice the number; those candidates will then undergo a second-stage in-depth interview evaluation and other assessments, with the College Scholastic Ability Test minimum standards applied. The final successful candidates are scheduled to be announced on December 6.

Meanwhile, JBNU closed applications for four admissions officers tracks, including the Keun-saram Track, for the 2013 academic year at 6:00 PM on the 22nd of last month. A total of 4,429 applicants applied for 656 available places.
