The JBNU Global Bridge Project Group (Director Byung-Jun Ahn), which serves as a bridge by having university students directly mentor children from multicultural families to help them grow appropriately, will run a special educational program during the semester.

Held every other Saturday from September 22 to December 22, the program aims to help students from multicultural families develop into individuals with global multicultural leadership.

The program, which will operate elementary and middle school classes, will offer a mathematics hands-on exhibition on September 22 to provide a direct, accessible experience of mathematics. In October, hands-on exhibitions for physics and earth science will be held, and in November and December theoretical instruction in chemistry, physics, and earth science will be provided.

For this program, the Project Group selected a mentor group of 25 people, including undergraduates from the College of Education, and will proceed in a format in which designated students receive concentrated instruction. Participating students from multicultural families will receive close, weekly, individualized guidance from the mentors on the material covered and can also consult about daily life concerns such as personal or peer-relationship issues.

In particular, the mentors will prepare individual observation reports for each student to identify and address areas where students from multicultural families need support. This is expected to be of great help.

Director Byung-Jun Ahn (Dean, College of Education) said, "This program is designed to help multicultural students build confidence and identity and to expand opportunities for educational welfare," adding, "We will do our best to provide multicultural students with the university's excellent educational personnel and laboratory and practical training conditions so that they can be nurtured as creative talents for the future society."
