Let us unite our efforts for a new leap forward for the Department of Architectural Engineering.
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Architectural Engineering marked its 50th anniversary and held an alumni homecoming day on September 14 at 6:00 PM in Jinsudang Gain Hall to strengthen fellowship.
Approximately 200 alumni, including Nam Hae-gyeong, President of the Department of Architectural Engineering Alumni Association and a professor at JBNU, as well as President Seo Geo-seok, Professor Emeritus Yu Eung-gyo, and current students, attended the event to celebrate the 50th anniversary.
In particular, the Department of Architectural Engineering Alumni Association established a KRW 150 million scholarship fund and held a donation ceremony on the day.
The fund was raised through small contributions from alumni of the Department of Architectural Engineering who are active across various sectors of society, with the aim of providing a better environment for junior students.
Accordingly, the fund, named the 'Architectural Engineering Alumni Scholarship Fund,' will be awarded annually to students as scholarships.
In addition, the department held various side events throughout the day, including a student graduation project exhibition, a sports competition, and career lectures by invited alumni.
At the event, Nam Hae-gyeong, President of the Department of Architectural Engineering Alumni Association, said, 'This occasion is an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of the department's 50th anniversary and to reaffirm alumni commitment to unity between seniors and juniors and to the advancement of our alma mater. Let us pool the alumni's strength so that our alma mater can develop further and so that students of the Department of Architectural Engineering can pursue their studies in better conditions.'
President Seo Geo-seok, in his congratulatory remarks, said, 'I am very pleased that alumni could gather at our alma mater in the year marking the 50th anniversary of the Department of Architectural Engineering. I hope today's event will serve as a stepping stone for the department to look back on its past, seriously consider its future direction, and vigorously prepare for the coming 100 and 200 years.'
