"Students Affected by Natural Disasters, Stay Strong."
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has decided to provide scholarships to students who suffered damage from the recent heavy rains followed by a typhoon.
This special disaster scholarship follows last month's recovery volunteer activities in the flooded Gunsan area carried out by President Seo Geoseok and over 100 faculty and staff.
Depending on the extent of the damage, the university plans to offer benefits such as full or partial tuition waivers. These measures are expected to provide significant support to parents and students in the affected areas.
Eligible applicants for this special scholarship are disaster victims or their children who are undergraduate students in the second semester of this year. Applications may be submitted to the Student Affairs Office, University Headquarters (063-270-4141, 2162) from September 19–21. Applicants must attach the application form, a damage verification issued by the relevant city/county/township office, a copy of the resident registration, and other relevant documents.
President Seo Geoseok said, "We have decided to provide special scholarships to fulfill our responsibilities and role as a regional anchor university and to share in the suffering of parents and students in the affected areas," adding, "I hope this will in some small way help students in the disaster-affected areas not lose hope and pursue their dreams, and JBNU will take the lead in sharing the region's pain."
