Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) produced five female Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) officer candidates this year, following last year.

According to the Ministry of National Defense's announcement of the selection results for the 53rd class of ROTC officer candidates, second-year student Seo Ji-won of the Department of Library & Information Science, Jo Yeon-su of the Department of French Studies, Lee Da-hye of the Department of Bioresource Materials Engineering, Kim Min-young of the Department of Landscape Architecture, and Jo Hee-kyung of the Department of Accounting were among those who were accepted.

This is the largest number of female ROTC officer candidates selected among the country's 30 national universities. It is also the highest number produced nationwide among universities without military-related departments.

JBNU was able to produce this number of female ROTC officer candidates by identifying prospective applicants in advance and providing tailored guidance to prepare them for the written examination and physical fitness test.

Accordingly, the five successful female ROTC officer candidates will, after receiving orientation training for successful candidates, begin a three-week induction training including military training and an induction ceremony starting in January next year, and will receive various trainings alongside male ROTC cadets. Upon graduation, they will be commissioned as officers (second lieutenant).
